About Daily Thought

I attended school at La Salle, a network of schools founded by Saint John Baptist de La Salle in 17th-century France. He believed that education was about more than facts and figures—it was about shaping character and nurturing wisdom.

It was a custom at my school to start each day with a "reflection." One student would share a thought with the class, and we would discuss it—sometimes for five minutes, occasionally for an hour. Some reflections were trivial, and we students weren't always mature enough to grasp the weight of topics like war or political upheaval. But others were brief yet striking, and I remember those moments as genuinely illuminating. A single sentence, considered together, could shift how we saw the world.

That experience stayed with me. I came to understand that certain ideas, when we sit with them and consider what they truly mean for our lives, have the power to make us wiser, healthier, happier—even wealthier. Acting on these insights is what makes the real difference, but sometimes all we need is a small trigger to spark the change we've been ready to make.

Daily Thought is a collection of daily reflections meant to be consumed one at a time—one per day. Each entry offers a quote followed by a reflection on its meaning. When a thinker is known, you'll find an introduction to the person behind the words. But not every insight comes from a famous mind—some have been passed down through cultures, repeated across generations, their origins lost to time. These too carry wisdom worth considering.

My hope is that you'll find, somewhere in these pages, the insight that helps you thrive.
